History is in our DNA...
Our entry sign reads: Highland Park Historic District. Many of the park cottages have celebrated more than a 100 years of families, friends, and memories. In fact, The Tri-Cities Historical Museum is presenting an exhibition (Oct. 2020-June 2021) of artifacts and stories of Highland Park. Great history for 135 years has happened here and a new chapter is waiting to be written.
That’s where you come in.
A piece of Highland property that we all own, in addition to the parking lots, are the tennis courts on Poplar Ridge where for decades and decades great games and tournaments and memories took place. But today, the little used courts are in need of repair and are in need of repurposing for the next decades. Our Board of Directors has recommended an exciting, all-inclusive plan for that property that will need your help moving forward.
The plan envisions a transformational area to include a new all-sports court striped for tennis, pickleball, and basketball on the current east court; and on the removed west court, an open, park-like setting. A space created for all of us to gather, to picnic, to party. A place for new memories for you, your family, and our community. Yes, it will be costly. Yes, if approved by the general membership, it will require an assessment. An assessment that can be offset by the upfront generosity of members who choose to be part of the next generation of memories here at Highland Park by becoming a Patron of Poplar Park.* So, consider becoming a Patron of Poplar Park and making some history yourself.
